ABC Greater Houston Selected for Landmark META Workforce Training Initiative

ABC Greater Houston and the Construction & Maintenance Education Foundation (CMEF) have been selected to participate in a groundbreaking workforce development initiative in partnership with ABC National, Meta, and CBRE; a significant investment in preparing the next generation of skilled craft professionals for the rapidly growing data center construction industry.

This exciting collaboration positions Greater Houston as one of a select group of ABC chapters chosen to help launch a first-of-its-kind training program designed to meet the increasing demand for highly skilled construction professionals supporting Meta’s expanding data center infrastructure.

Preparing the Workforce of Tomorrow

The initiative will provide participants with an intensive, four-week America’s Workforce Academy that combines industry-recognized NCCER curriculum, hands-on instruction, construction safety, and jobsite readiness training. Upon successful completion, graduates will be connected with employment opportunities through ABC member contractors working on major construction projects.

Removing Barriers to Opportunity

One of the most exciting aspects of the program is that there is no cost to students.

Meta is investing in the success of every participant by covering:

  • Tuition
  • Airfare (when applicable)
  • Hotel accommodations
  • Daily stipend
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)

By removing financial barriers, the program opens doors for individuals seeking rewarding careers in construction while helping employers address the industry’s growing workforce needs.

Training at CMEF

Training will be conducted at the Construction & Maintenance Education Foundation (CMEF) in La Porte, Texas. Students will receive hands-on instruction in a state-of-the-art training environment featuring construction orientation, safety education, basic craft skills, NCCER curriculum, and practical jobsite experience.

ABC Greater Houston and CMEF are currently preparing facilities, finalizing curriculum, and recruiting instructors in anticipation of welcoming the first training cohort later this year.

A National Opportunity with Local Impact

Being selected for this initiative is a testament to the reputation ABC Greater Houston and CMEF have built as leaders in workforce development. The partnership recognizes our chapter’s commitment to delivering high-quality training while connecting graduates with meaningful careers in the merit shop construction industry.

As demand for data center construction continues to grow across the country, so does the need for skilled, safety-focused craft professionals. Through this partnership, ABC Greater Houston is helping ensure that our region has the workforce necessary to support these transformational projects while creating life-changing career opportunities for individuals throughout our community.

This initiative represents more than a training program—it is an investment in people, industry, and the future of construction. ABC Greater Houston is proud to play a leading role in developing the workforce that will build tomorrow’s critical infrastructure.

Stay tuned as we share additional updates on instructor recruitment, program milestones, and the launch of the inaugural training cohort.
